2012 Snowstorm Hits Snohomish County

This week has been a total weather mess in Western Washington. It started for us in Snohomish County on Monday morning, light snow accumulated quickly to a few inches. It got worse each day, by Wednesday I had over 10" of snow at my house. The driving conditions in rural Snhomish County were terrible, with compact snow and ice making for difficult commutes.

On Tuesday I drove around and got a few decent photos of the snow around Eastern Snohomish County- here are some of my favorites (click for larger size):

January Flooding around North Snohomish County

Warm weather and heavy rains made for some sudden flooding the past couple days. I shot a few photos and video of folks driving through the floodwater in Snohomish and near Duvall Sunday:

I shot a few videos of cars driving through the floodwater, (one clip was played on the Kiro 5PM News) and just a few clips of the Stillaguamish River near Arlington. The flooding was not nearly as bad as in December, but it still left it's mark.

some shots with the Canon 7D

I've had the Canon 7D for a few days now and I'm starting to get a feel for the settings and controls. Have not had the time to go out and do some serious work with it, but I brought it with me while I ran some errands this weekend. I am blown away by the low light image quality.

This shot was indoors, using only the fridge light, ISO 6400, F7.1 @ 1/200th:

I'll be spending more time with it and hopefully will get some great shots of the fall colors here in the Pacific Northwest. I'll write up a full review of the camera after I have spent a couple weeks with it, rather than just a couple days of use.
