Washington State Patrol aircraft enforcement in Marysville

Weather was good today so the Washington State Patrol wasted little time in getting at least two of their aircraft up for some speed enforcement on I-5. I grabbed a few minutes of video of the operation in Marysville, there were only a handful of patrol cars so it was not as intense as some of the operations I've seen WSP do in the past. The video gives you a good idea how these operations work, with the aircraft picking the speeders out and relaying the information to the troopers on the ground. The speed limit in this area is 60mph, several of the cars pulled over were doing 75 to 86mph.

Marysville Police Pursuit 11-22-2011

Some audio from a pursuit that started sometime before 5pm in Marysville. Went on for several minutes, units finally terminated the pursuit when the suspect jumped on to I-5 Southbound near Everett. Ironically right after they terminated it the suspect blew by an Everett Officer who was just pulling up his spikes.

Seattle Outlet Mall's Parking lot is a disaster

Shoppers parking in front of fire hydrantAnyone who has tried to find a parking spot at the Seattle Outlet Mall in Marysville knows it's a total mess on a weekend or holiday. I'd estimate the developer miscalculated the parking by about 30%. People end up parking on the grass, in front of cars, in loading areas, along curbs, in front of fire hydrants (See above).

I've never seen any type of enforcement for people parking pretty much anywhere they feel like it. It's basically a parking lot free for all.

Last weekend I was picking up our daughter from the mall (she works there) and while waiting watched a guy try to thread a Ford 15 passenger van between all the cars that were parked against the curb. He apparently hit, or thought he hit a Mercedes. After checking it out he left, the owner showed up and drove off, oblivious to the incident. I guess saving 30% on a coach purse is worth risking having your car sideswiped by a van..

Fatal accident in Marysville 07-29-2011

Around 11:30 last night a Dodge truck struck multiple vehicles in Marysville. A Marysville officer began a short pursuit, the end result being the Dodge truck striking another vehicle on 4th avenue west of the onramp to I-5, killing a 26 year old female. The truck ended up on it's side, the driver appeared to be under arrest, then placed into an aid car.

I shot a few minutes of video from the scene, and audio from the pursuit itself:
